The
Texas Heritage Cycling Experience had originally planned on a series of low-key
pilot heritage rides over the next year. However, because of the very strong
interest expressed by Texas communities along El Camino Real de los Tejas for
that planned ride (see Rides Underway below), much of our effort is now tied
up in - planning for that ride – as well as for events in those communities
that will surround our ride. El Camino Real de los Tejas was recently designated
by the U.S. Congress as a National Historic Trail (in the same company as the
Santa-Fe Trail from Missouri to Santa Fe, NM and the Lewis and Clark Trail from
Washington, D.C. to Washington State.)
We will still do some low-key rides on other routes – especially after
November. Persons wishing to ride, assist with planning/support, or wishing
to go on their own rides and needing historical and practical information may
contact us. If you know of
a particularly interesting historic trail that would make a great ride, email
Mark Stine.

Upcoming Rides
We do not have any formal plans for rides at this time. We are currently working on a bicycle tourism trail pilot project in response to TxDOT's Statewide Transportation Enhancement Program (STEP) call for project nominations. This process is open to all communities. If you are interested in working on a grant for bicycle infrastructure, click here.
